Has your spouse ever come home expressing concern over some new regulation that has been imposed on his practice? Have you ever wondered how this new burden evolved, whether it was a new regulation requiring the installation of an expensive piece of equipment, a new fee or a regulation requiring additional doctor and staff time for record keeping to meet the pounds of paper detailing how to comply, it is the result of a legislative process. Through the AWSDA up dates on various proposed pieces of legislation are available with calls to action to contact legislators on various pieces of pending legislation so that you and your spouse can knowledgeably express your support or disagreement with the bill. As an informed member you can alert your spouse to issues that will impact the profession and you.
AWSDA is actively involved keeping our members notified and are participants with the WSDA during Dental Team Day in Olympia preparing and distributing 300 dental care kits that offer healthy snacks, travel brushing packs and informational hand outs about the use of mouth guards and the dangers of spit tobacco.
The Washington State Dental Association sponsors Dental Action Day each January in Olympia. The Alliance of the Washington State Dental Association participates in two ways:
- Packing gift bags to be delivered to the legislators and their aides.
- Attending the orientation, and visiting legislators’ offices along with dentists, to discuss issues affecting the dental profession.

Gift Bags for Legislators are packed and ready to be delivered to Olympia for Dental Action Day
The Alliance of the WSDA is enthusiastically engaged in legislative issues and have participated in Dental Team Legislation Day for nearly twenty years. Members are encouraged to join DENTPAC as Alliance members, and several are also members of ADPAC.
