Nancy Uhlmansiek, Student Spouse Liaison
It is a privilege and honor to be the Student Spouse liaison for the Alliance of the Washington State Dental Association. Student Spouse Membership provides opportunities to interact with others who share common interests and concerns, as well as opportunities to participate in conferences, workshops and community programs that relate to dentistry and dental health, advocacy and family well being.
Student Spouse members support and promote their spouse’s profession even though they may have their own professions. It is positive to support and network with other dental school couples and dental families. Knowing that you belong to a special group of people and can directly help others while at the same time support a worthwhile organization gives the Alliance special meaning. We have Dental Student Spouses in various dental schools across the country in the 10 districts. AADA has Student Spouse Alliance Components at some of the dental schools but of course would like to have more get started. A Student Spouse Alliance Handbook is available, which gives the Dental Student Spouse any type of information they may wish for about the Alliance or how to start an Alliance at their school. Our Dental Spouse Alliance of Washington (DSAW) is a very active, enthusiastic and wonderful group to be around.

Student spouses are fundamental to the future growth of the Alliance and its effort to promote the dental profession and the dental health of the public, and are our AADA leaders of tomorrow.
Dental students and their spouses need to be informed! Great West Life currently provides life insurance for dental students and their families. This free life insurance worth $50,000 is available to dental students; which they may obtain simply by signing up.
If anyone needs an application form to become a student spouse member of the Alliance, or would like to know more information about the Alliance of the ADA, the Student Spouse groups, or Leadership Conference in Seattle, they are invited to log onto www.AllianceADA.org .
